How to Become a Member
We believe that faith in Jesus is a lifetime spiritual journey, a pilgrimage, a quest for a closer relationship with the living God and a deeper understanding of the meaning of life.
The first step in church membership is a commitment to be a disciple, or follower of Jesus. Active study of his teachings is an ongoing pursuit for all of us.
Disciples are always members because we know we need one another and a public commitment to the church is a witness to our faith and faithful living as followers of Jesus.
You are invited to unite in membership with GPC in one of the following ways:
Confession of Faith
First time membership in a church. If you have not been baptized, that will be done as part of your Confession of Faith
Reaffirmation of Faith
Reconnecting with the church by renewing your membership
Letter of Transfer
Transferring your membership from another congregation (Presbyterian or otherwise)
We take care of requesting your membership transfer.
Affiliate Membership
You are already a member of another Presbyterian Church (your present home church) but you wish to temporarily join GPC.
As an affiliate member, you may participate fully in the life of the congregation but you are not eligible to vote in congregational meetings or hold office as you have that privilege in another congregation.
Vows of Church Membership in the Presbyterian Church U.S.A.

All members take the following vows:
- Trusting in the gracious mercy of God, do you turn from the ways of sin and renounce evil and its power in the world? (I do.)
- Who is your Lord and Savior? (Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior.)
- Will you be Christ’s faithful disciple, obeying his word and showing his love? (I will.)
- Will you be a faithful member of this congregation, sharing in its worship and ministry through your prayers and gifts, your study and service, and so fulfill your calling to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. (I will.)
